A note to Waylon: Buddy you strong, passionate, funny and a friend to all. It was very fitting that the theme of your 5th birthday was a super heroes! We celebrated you with family and friends, cotton candy, your first piñata and good ‘ol backyard fun. Thanks for being our son. Dad and I think you’re pretty great and heroic…we can’t wait to see what you do in the next 5 years.
A note to parents: Birthday parties are fun for kids but often stressful for parents. We like to throw together parties with thought but try to make it as easy as possible. So we choose to host his 5th birthday party in the morning around brunch time and offer the fun but simple spread of donuts, coffee, and fruit with the occasional cupcake and juicebox of course. Vanessa from Get Fluffed Up Cotton Candy came to our house and spun up delicious and organic cotton candy goodness….seriously she was the hit of the party. We joked with our friends that we were giving them plenty of time for their kids to run off all the sugar because “hey life can’t always be sugar free!” Another tip for seamless party planning is to find a good party shop and purchase themed items at one time. I ordered all our super hero themed plates, cupcake kits, hooray banner, cups and napkins from Witty Bash, the cutest party shop on Etsy. This made it easy to set up the party and still feel like it had my personal touch to it. In Waylon’s words, “It was the best day ever!”
