Ahhhh sleep training! Every parents favorite dreaded task…. I’d rather take a statistics class then start sleep training but I know the end result is what’s best for me, my baby, and my whole family. I don’t follow any hard or fast rules and I can’t tell you the exact time to start sleep training. I always go with my gut and wait for my baby to tell me they’re ready. So with that I’ll tell you my top 7 signs that you and your little one are ready to begin this journey.
-
Your baby is at least 4 months old, progressively gaining weight and can go 2-6 hours at a time without eating.
-
Your baby is waking up within an hour of putting them to sleep at night and using you as a pacifier.
-
They are rolling over and or starting to crawl…this is usually my biggest sign to get my kiddos out of my bed and into their own.
-
The timing is right for your entire family. If you’re about to take a trip or life is chaotic at home and you don’t have the energy wait for things to mellow out before sleeping training.
-
You feel ready… sometimes as a parent you just know intuitively if you and your baby are ready that or you’re just tired and desperate enough to do it ha ha.
-
You’re filled up, ready to be patient and you have a plan.
I’m not a sleep expert but these signs have always helped me know when it was time to gather a plan and prepare for sleep training. If you’d like a valuable resource for sleep training I recommend “Awake Kidos Snoozy Parents” course. You can use code CHRISSY10 for 10% off.
*Ruby and I are wearing beautiful designs by one of my favorite shops Go Gently Nation. I have been living in the dresses from their women’s collection, which is all so so gorgeous. I can literally wear it to the beach, church, home or out to dinner. They’re all so versatile and comfy, which is key for the phase of life I’m in right now.
Go Gently Nation is consciously mastering comfort and style with sustainable measures while creating beautiful garments of meticulous fit and quality. They use only organic and sustainable fabrics, recycled paper hang tags, certified water-based inks, low impact dyes, recycled fabric remnants and numerous eco-business practices. I love their simple and elegant unisex baby clothing!
