How Microneedling Changed My Skin

“You have a mustache!” said the 5 year old boy to 24 year old me. I was taken aback but he was right I had a mustache….a dark spot above my upper lip perfectly shaped as a mustache. I didn’t know this at the time but the hormones in my birth control, getting my eyebrows waxed and lots of time in the sun was damaging my skin and causing something I would fight for the next 10 + years: Melasma.

Flash forward 10 years and 3 pregnancies and my face looked like it had a map on it. I felt insecure about all my dark spots and would often say things like “gosh if I just didn’t have these spots I’d look 5 years younger” or “If I didn’t have to wear foundation and coverup like I’m going to be on high def TV I’d be on time more.” Melasma has been a thorn in my side for a long time but I’m happy to say I have found a treatment that not only works to fade hyperpigmentation but boosts collagen and smooths out pores and wrinkles too!

I’ve tried several peels and skin care regimens and nothing has worked as well as Microneedling. Nurse Patty and all the people at Remedi Med Spa are the best in the industry and worked with me to bring out the best in my skin. When I say they’re the best I mean it! I would drive 2 hours to see them and some do! I heard of a client that flies in from somewhere and you know what? I get it! Trusting your skin and body to someone is a scary. Not only do I trust Nurse Patty but I look forward to seeing her because she’s so encouraging and kind. Together with we’re sharing more info about the benefits of Microneedling and how it can help you. Remedi Med Spa also gave me a coupon code to share with you! Use code: CHRISSY10 for 10% off any Med Spa Service (can’t be used on any other specials).

My skin now with minimal makeup and no filters! Also I should note that I’ve never had botox or fillers and I’m 37 years old. I’m simply amazed at the results I got through just microneedling.

So let’s answer some of your questions:

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is the use of “micro” needles to puncture the skin, causing controlled injury and promoting the skin to rejuvenate.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
  • Triggers the production of collagen and elastin
  • Diminishes acne scars
  • Shrinks large pores
  • Reduces the appearance of stretch marks and scars
  • Rejuvenates skin by causing cell turnover
  • Improves product absorption by allowing skincare to penetrate skin more effectively

Why is it a great treatment for everyone?

  • Great for all skin tones
  • Corrective (fine lines and wrinkles, pores, scarring, rejuvenation)
  • Preventative (Cell turnover and stimulates collagen and elastin, prevents fine line and wrinkles)
  • Works along with other treatments, can be combined in same appointment
  • Painless, patient is numb during treatment
  • Minimal downtime – most patients are good to go out in 1-2 days
  • Can be done on any area of skin that needs to be repaired; not limited to face only.

And to go even deeper (pardon the pun ha ha) here are some more answers to the questions you asked me on Instagram:

The little holes from the needles create “micro channels” that allow skincare products, such as potent serums, to penetrate and absorb into the deeper layers of skin to deliver more powerful results.

These tiny pinpricks act as a bunch of mini injuries which kick skin into healing mode and stimulates collagen and elastin production. This process plumps skin and improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars and pores.

Experts agree that you should not get the procedure done on skin that is inflamed, irritated, if you have rosacea, or are currently experiencing eczema.

Since microneedling can cause your skin to absorb skincare products more deeply, there’s a chance it could react to ingredients differently and become irritated. I did not experience this and in fact noticed that the products I was using on my skin worked better after each microneedling treatment. I’ve been using iS Clinical Cleansing Complex Wash, Active Serum, and Reparative Moisture Emulsion that I found at Remedi Med Spa, but it’s safe to say you want to be careful about using products not formulated for use with microneedling.

How expensive is it? It ranges from $300-$400 a session but you can use my coupon code CHRISSY10 for 10% off and I’m telling you having healthy skin, more confidence and less time applying makeup is priceless! So click here or call 619-821-8207 to book an appointment.
