I was about to run into Target to buy super hero Valentine’s for Waylon to hand out in his class this week…then I saw this “‘Astronaut” Valentine DIY on Dandee Designs. I called every place that sells toys in the greater San Diego area with no luck of finding the tiny astronauts to put on them; so I improvised with things we already had in our craft closet. This Valentine DIY is so simple and sweet. First download the free print from Dandee here and make it your own! I found some leftover cardboard and card-stock paper and cut it up in rectangles slightly bigger than the print. Waylon stamped stars on the background paper using a potato stamp. To make a “star” potato stamp, cut a potato in half and cut tiny triangles into it. Lastly I made little paper airplanes and wrote his classmates names on each one and attached it with a brad (you can also use glue or tape). To make this valentine that much sweeter we taped fruit snacks to the back of each one. It was fun making them together and think he’ll feel proud handing out his artwork to his friends. I love that these valentines are personalized and unique and we didn’t need to leave the house to get them….because a Target run without kids is the best kind of Target trip.
And this last photo is to show you how we get anything done around here. Have fun and happy creating!
