Time spent with family has been the constant joy in my life. As a mother, I value time with my
kids Waylon and Zeke and Sam on a whole new level. When I was growing up, I was obsessed with making photo albums, for sure that was a hint to my love of photography and preserving memories. You should see my “Senior Memories” scrapbook it’s pretty dang amazing complete with incriminating photos and movies stubs from “Scream”.
With two boys, a private therapy practice, freelance projects, my blog, and everything else going on, it’s not exactly easy for me to find the time or patience to sit down and make photo albums. So in the short-term, our photo situation is chaotic and I’m just praying my computer doesn’t crash.
I mean who wants to be stressed out by the thought of how we’ll be preserving our family photos? It’s pretty ironic: while we’re taking more photos than ever before, we’re just not
cherishing all the memories we have made. So when I heard about Joy and the Joy Photo Album it was a simple and genius choice!
As you saw in my video, It’s a gorgeous interactive storybook of our life. It
has all of our family photos and videos in beautiful layouts, organized around our trips, milestones,
holidays and everything in between. And unlike the albums I had as a child, our Joy Photo Album is
modern and has some unbelievable features. With StoryTime, I can go through an album with
anyone, near or far (like my family in the Bay Area) and have a real-time voice call while we flip
through an album simultaneously– as if we’re on the same couch. Then there’s a feature called voice
notes (which you may have seen in the video) where anyone who is shared in the album can leave a
personal reaction and it saves it to the photo. Zeke and Waylon love recording
voice notes. Sam and I especially love that the Joy Photo Album supports all video footage too-
-we take A LOT of videos (including a very special one that we’ll show you all soon) and now we finally have a place to watch them alongside the photos…this might be one of my favorite winning features.
Finally, I love that even when we’re not actively flipping through an album, it’s always on in our living
room, going through our photos in slideshow mode… puts a smile on
all of our faces just to walk by it and see all we’ve done together. Home is definitely where we’re happiest, so this makes home feel even happier. I am super excited to have this transformative tool where like the good ole days when we didn’t have the constant notifications, alerts, and distractions that take us apart. Joy brings us together in a way that I appreciate so much, we’re present in the moment while rediscovering moments we love and care about so much.
