| Four years ago I was escorted off an airplane due to a severe panic attack. I had tried everything in my therapeutic tool kit to calm my body down but my nervous system was not having it. I was locked up in my body, operating 99.9% out of masculine energy and white-knuckling life. My husband picked me up from the airport while I sat in a wheelchair with my head hung low, face stained with tears and I knew in that moment something radically needed to change in my life.
Full disclosure I went to the ER to reset my nervous system with medication, booked a session with my therapist and then I started to get curious. I started to seek help outside my comfort zone of Western medicine and my particular faith circle. I joined an online women’s circle with Christa Black Gifford and learned about masculine and feminine energy, how to honor my cycle, and practice Nonlinear Movement. Christa walked me home to myself and made it safe for me to feel feminine again. When our women’s circle ended I flew to Nashville to heal with 200 other women at her Embodiment retreat. I still get chills when I remember the sound of 200 women collectively releasing old wounds and trauma together while doing Nonlinear Movement. Six months later I was being trained by the same woman who trained Christa, Michalea Boehm. Michaela teaches and counsels internationally as an expert in intimacy and sexuality. Born and raised in Austria, Michaela combines degrees in psychology and extensive clinical counseling experience with her in-depth training in the yogic arts as a classical Kashmiri Tantric lineage holder. So basically she was everything I would judge about a woman and label her as just “woo woo”. What I learned from Michaela in this teacher training gave me a gift of being able to heal in a new embodied way and to give that gift to my clients.
