I am forever grateful for the opportunity to celebrate design and creativity with brilliant people. This week Ruby and I attended the “Life Within” Anthropologie event to view their stunning Spring Home line and meet some of their incredible vendors.
We arrived at the Lombardi House in L.A. and were ushered into an incredible barn impeccably decorated with Anthro’s Spring Home designs. The workshops began shortly after we arrived and with my perfectly made chai in hand and everyone offering to hold Ruby (she was a hit, shocker) I sat down at my first table to learned the science behind gallery walls with Artfully Walls. If you didn’t know this, Artfully Walls is an art and curating service that carefully selects work from artists around the world and then matches the pieces to the size, color scheme or inspiration of a space. They are Anthropoligie’s premier vendor for all things art and prints. Now I just need a new wall to work on my gallery skills.
We took a couple nursing breaks, Ruby slept in my Wildbird sling and everyone was so sweet and accommodating. From gallery walls to block-printing with Farrow and Ball, cake decorating with Lori A. Stern, creating my own personal scent with Voluspa and making the most beautiful foraged wreath with Terrain….our day spent with Anthropologie was a dream.
Justina Blakeney designer and writer at Jungalow .com spoke about her thoughts on the future of design and the Life Within Spring line during lunch. Her advice on making a house a home with your family and incorporating old and new items that have sentimental meaning resonated with me. I love her bohemian style as well and how lived in her style feel. When I think of The Life Within that’s what comes to mind….a lived in feeling of items you truly love….things that inspire and feel warm and inviting. That’s what I strive for in our home decor is to create a space that feels like home; a place you can relax, let down your guard and be yourself. The things and people you surround yourself with matter so make them worthy of you!
Oh and here’s a funny story. I was talking to Tiffani Amber Thiessen for a few minutes having no clue she was Kelly Kapowski and actually asked her what she did…. ha ha ! She was a doll and so sweet and her new cookbook “Pull Up A Chair” looks amazing!
