March 27th, 2012 was a good good day….I became a mama that day! Waylon Philip came into this world 3 weeks early, but after 2 months of being on bedrest due to placenta previa I was ready for him to come and be safe in my arms. Flash forward 4 years and we are celebrating our 4 year old boy in the biggest bash yet. It’s out-of-this-world (pardon the space-themed pun) how fast he is growing up. This was the first year that he really grasped the idea that it was his special day….becoming 4 was a huge deal for our boy. I was thrilled to partner with Kristen of Cap & Crown: Simply Perfect Parties. I gave her the idea of throwing an astronaut/space themed party and she did the rest. From designing the custom invite, decor, food and an amazing DIY jetpack… she handled it all and made it simple and cute! I am so happy with how Waylon’s 4th birthday party turned out. We opted for a park birthday party in the morning hours so we could hang with friends and let the kiddos play while we munched on donuts and coffee. It was the day before Easter so we had an egg hunt and let the kiddos run wild. This type of party is seriously so easy and inexpensive! It was such a memorable day for our oldest son, just check out his face in these photos!
Decorations:
Food & Drink: coffee, donuts, rocket fruit skewers, cake water and juice boxes….easy peasy.
The Gifts (by far Waylon’s favorite part): We found it easier to let him open his gifts as his friends arrived individually. It was less overwhelming for him and we had a less sharing/no sharing meltdowns.
* A very special thanks to Cap & Crown: Simply Perfect Parties who helped me throw Waylon the birthday party of his dreams. For more info on Cap & Crown head to capandcrownparties.com
