I’m planning my next women’s healing trip!
I only do one of these trips a year and they are near and dear to my heart as are all the women I get to meet and travel with.
This year we’re headed to France a country that is near to my heart. When I was 18 years old I traveled the South of France and my mind was blown by all the beauty, history and art. When I was 21 I lived in Paris as an art student and fell in love with all the museums and culture that Paris offers. Now at 40 I’m hoping to go back with a group of women to have fun, adventure, revel in beauty and oh yeah heal our feminine wounds.
Did you know that Mary Magdalene is the most poignant archetype of The Divine Feminine? What is the Divine Feminine you might be wondering?
The Divine Feminine is the feminine aspect of the divine power that connects and binds the Earth together. In other words, it is the goddess energy that exists within all of us. Many ancient cultures have a Divine Feminine concept. The Egyptians had Isis, the Greeks had Aphrodite, and the Hindus have Shakti. Aspects of the Divine Feminine can be found in almost all ancient and modern belief systems.
The Divine Feminine is often associated with fertility, creativity, and intuition. Tapping into this energy can help heal the mind, body, and soul of women.
Mary Magdalene was misrepresented as a prostitute, but when we learn more about her she was so much more. Mary Magdalene was a trusted confidante, apostle, saint, Goddess and beloved of Jesus. Through her life and story women have found empowerment and healing as she represents the glories of womanhood.
Her message to us women today is that it’s time we as women celebrate the fact that we are women and that we as women in all our gloriousness are an expression of God or the Divine. She calls us to rise and shine brighter in the truth of our womanhood.
Mary Magdalene teaches us to live from our heart; to live, act, speak and give from a place of unconditional love. This is the feeling of home that we long for within ourselves. It is through her essence that we can see our own and remember that we already have what we need to live a life that is full of love and wisdom.
According to the Christian religion, Mary Magdalene is one of the disciples of Jesus Christ. Originally from the city of Magdala, in the region of Galilee in Israel. After Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection she was expelled from her land during the persecution of Christians in Palestine. Mary Magdalene embarked on a makeshift ship which arrived on the Provençal coasts of southern France. It is in this region that she she preached and lived until her death.
On this trip we will be traveling from Paris to the Provence to learn more about ourselves and our own Divine Feminine while sightseeing, eating amazing food, staying in beautiful places and having fun with like-minded women that I bet will end up being lifelong friends.
With the help of my friend Lauren Kennedy (@aspiringkennedy) we will be embarking on the trip of a lifetime. Lauren is in the midst of planning the logistics (all the dreamy places we will eat, stay and see) and I am working on the healing aspects of how to understand who we are as women and how we can learn to know and love ourselves more as well as heal from some of the wounds this life has afflicted.
Who this trip is for: All individuals who identify as a woman.
What you might be facing: Anxiety, trauma, insecurity, feeling lost in a patriarchal world, wanting to love yourself but don’t know how? You also might be feeling disconnected from your body and sensuality and you dream of seeing yourself reflected in the Divine.
This is how I can help you on this trip: I’ve been holding space for women as a therapist for 14+ year. Through using therapeutic practice like CBT and Jungian Theories like identifying the ego and healing the inner child and shadow I’ve been able to help women break through old beliefs and distorted thoughts about themselves so that they can see their true essence and reconnect with their body and soul. On this trip you’ll learn about different archetypes of the divine feminine that will help you unlearn patriarchal teachings that harm, disempower and limit women. As a group we will all hold space for each other to heal through the eyes and heart of Mary Magdalene as we walk in her footsteps.
What makes me a good trip host: I’m a trauma-informed therapist trained in Experiential Therapy (Experiential therapy is a type of therapy that allows clients to use expressive tools, activities, and other methods to heal specific situations from the past and present), Nonlinear Movement, and EMDR. I consider it my life’s calling to hold space for women on their healing paths. What makes me unique is that I have been to my own dark places. I too thought I was broken. I spent most of my life trying to be “good enough” not realizing I already was. I covertly received a message in childhood that told me that if I wasn’t perfect I wasn’t good enough. That distorted thought was rooted deep in my psyche which manifested in: anxiety, panic disorder, depression, anorexia, binge-eating disorder and catastrophic thinking. I love to share my personal story of healing and how I found freedom and released shame around my sensuality, sexuality and fear of death.
“I am so grateful that I decided to book this trip with Chrissy Powers to Costa Rica. I had been looking for some kind of retreat and I knew that I would be in good hands with Chrissy on this healing adventure. What I did not know was how profound and incredible this trip would be for me. The support and sisterhood that I felt and continue to feel as a result of this amazing group of women is unmatched. We laughed, we cried, we held space for our authentic selves to be vulnerable, validated and truly loved. I never could have imagined that something like zip lining in the jungle could be so transcendent and freeing for my soul! The luxury accommodations, food and guide service were also fantastic, I loved that everything was planned out for us. I would say that this is a once in a lifetime experience but there is no way I’m only doing this trip once! Pura Vida! “
